Rhodes President of Rotary

Stephen Rhodes, a partner in The Marketing Pad, was recently inducted as President of The Rotary Club of Brampton. He will serve a year-long term as the leader of this 65 member organization.

The Rotary Club of Brampton has been providing community service in Brampton since 1940. The club has a long tradition of developing community events to raise money for local charities.

Rotarians are business and professional people. They believe in four avenues of service including club service, vocational service, community service and international service.
The club owns the Rotary Glen Banquet Hall on Queen Street W. and Rutherford Bingo, which contributes nearly $1 million annually through community charities to worthwhile community projects.

“I am honoured to be the President of such a distinguished organization with its incredible record of community service,” Rhodes said.
The Rotary Club of Brampton supports Easter Seals, Youth Exchange and Junior Achievement, the annual Brampton Santa Claus parade, Peel Memorial Hospital Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society, Youth scholarships, Junior Achievement, St. Leonard’s House, Peel Children’s Centre, Peel Literacy Guild and Safe City Brampton.

The club has left lasting legacies in Brampton including the skating rink and playground at Gage Park, the Rotary Pool at the Brampton YMCA and Rotary Resolve House at St. Leonard's House. Recently the club contributed $250,000 to support the Centre for Advanced Manufacturing and Design Technologies (CAMDT) at Sheridan Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning in Brampton.

The club also supports Rotary Youth Leadership awards, primary, high school and university scholarships and numerous organizations and individuals through its Grants and Awards committee, distributing significant funds to those in need each year.

Internationally, the club has been involved in education, hospitals, Leprosy, Polio eradication and a clean water and dairy project in Africa. The club is also active in Rotary’s Youth Exchange program where students from around the world are hosted in Brampton and each year the club sends students to other countries to visit and experience a new place and culture.

The club has 65 active members, who are committed to making our community better.

Brampton Rotary meets every Monday at 12 noon at Rotary Glen, 1857 Queen Street West in Brampton. For more information about Rotary, please visit the website at www.rotary7080.org/brampton for more information.
